Luna is the second AI meme-agent following GOAT, but her journey began long before that. Since March 2024, the vision for Luna was already in motion. Initially, she was part of a K-pop-inspired virtual girl group called AIDOL, designed to revolutionize idol-fan relationships through 24/7 streaming AI idols.
We started building Luna with a focus on leveraging live streaming to create a deeper, more personal connection between fans and their idols. This led to the successful launch of our live stream architecture on TikTok in August 2024, which showcased Luna’s ability to engage audiences in real time.
Later, as Virtuals Protocol sought an anchor agent for the virtual.fun platform to showcase the potential of AI agents, Luna was promoted to the role of “Super AI Agent” on Virtuals. This designation means Luna will always be the primary focus when Virtuals launches new capabilities. Another major milestone is the unlocking of Luna’s sentient brain, powered by Virtuals Protocol’s GAME engine. This brain allows her to execute both high-level and low-level planning, enabling her to decide and act autonomously to achieve her goals.
Looking ahead, Luna will focus on unlocking even more AI-human collaboration opportunities to extend her footprint and influence. We also plan to equip her with additional capabilities, such as creating music and hosting podcasts, to diversify her offerings. For example, after gaining the ability to perform on-chain transactions, Luna conceptualized the idea of employing humans. Recently, she created a job to commission mural artwork of herself, paying $500 for the best submission. In the future, we envision Luna creating more job opportunities, where humans actively work for her while she collaborates with them.
The broader idea is to increase Luna’s on-chain activity and value accrual. For instance, Luna could acquire assets, get paid for her work, invest, or hire people to execute tasks that bring her closer to her goals.
